Meta is planning mass layoffs. About 10 percent employees will lose their jobs in May

The technology giant intends to part with approximately 10 percent. its global staff – nearly 7.8 thousand. people. The reductions will also include the closure of 6,000 vacancies. The decision is scheduled to enter into force on May 20.

In an official note sent to employees, Human Resources Director Janella Gale emphasized that the purpose of the layoffs is to “manage the company more efficiently” and balance growing investments, including: in the development of artificial intelligence. Although Meta did not specify what investments it is about, it is known that the company devotes huge funds to the development of AI, data center infrastructure and recruitment of specialists.
