Legal dispute around the Dukovana Power Plant


Last week, the Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala canceled the participation in the signing ceremony of the contract with KHNP for the construction of new energy blocks at the Dukovana nuclear power plant. Its conclusion was blocked by a Czech court, to which French EDF appealed. According to the decision, the contract cannot be signed until the appeal procedure is resolved.

French EDF complained not only to the Czech court, but also to the EC.

Regnier said that the EC in a letter to the Czech Republic raised its reservations under the regulation on foreign subsidies. It concerns controlling the help provided by the rule of third countries to enterprises operating on the EU common market. The letter was sent to Prague by the Vice -President of the EC, Frenchman Stephane Sejourne.
