Behind the scenes of the peace talks conducted by Donald Trump's negotiators with Russia, there are plans to open the Russian economy to American investments. According to reports from the Wall Street Journal, some American companies are already preparing to return to the Russian market. The Kremlin is deliberately tempting Americans with the prospect of lucrative business in order to gain an advantage over European competition. “Poland will not take part in trading Ukrainian lands, we will review such things, not make fun of them” – announced on Saturday on TVN24 the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Radosław Sikorski, in the context of talks on the peace plan for Ukraine.

The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs assessed that if it was true that part of the American negotiations aimed at Ukraine making territorial cessions in exchange for multi-hundred-billion-dollar businesses for American corporations in Russia, then it may be “like Nord Stream, but times a hundred”.
He noted that it is not yet known whether American diplomacy will strive for a quick agreement on Ukraine, at the expense of Kiev. “But something is up, because there are serious people involved there. And then, of course, the government of Donald Tusk, which categorically supports international law, the guarantees that Ukraine has from the United States, and the continued support for Ukraine, may be inconvenient. — noted Radosław Sikorski.

The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that “WSJ” indicates that it is a plan of part of the American administration, and that there are also other views there. He estimated that the article would generate a lot of interest and “generate antibodies” because not everyone in the US would be happy with such plans. Nevertheless, he said, this was not good news for Europe. “We now have such a disturbing series of events,” he stressed.

When asked about speculations about the possible handing over of Donbas by Ukraine, Radosław Sikorski emphasized that he would not speculate on this matter. “Military aspects are important because Ukraine should come out of this war with borders that can be defended – because if it doesn't come out, then it is a recipe for another war. So I hope that everyone who is debating about these issues today knows what they are doing,” said Minister Sikorski.
