US Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that on the night from Friday to Saturday, American forces struck more than 90 military targets on the Iranian island of Khark. It emphasized that the oil infrastructure had not been destroyed.

“Last night, US forces carried out a large-scale precision strike on the island of Khark in Iran. The attack destroyed sea mine depots, underground missile depots and many other military facilities,” the command said.

“US forces successfully struck over 90 Iranian military targets on Khark Island while maintaining oil infrastructure,” it noted.

On Friday, US President Donald Trump said that American forces had carried out “one of the most powerful bombings in the history of the Middle East”, destroying “all military targets” on Iran's Khark island.

He said that “for reasons of decency” he did not raze the island's oil infrastructure to the ground. “However, if Iran or anyone else does anything to impede the free and safe passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz, I will immediately review this decision,” the president threatened.

Axios assessed that the attack was a “warning shot” from Trump. The strike is intended to signal to Iran that they should end their blockade of the strait.
