VIDEO Protest in Cotroceni against the appointments for the head of the big prosecutor's offices. Nicușor Dan came out to talk with the demonstrators: “The prosecutors I will sign will have my signature”

Several civic organizations protested on Friday evening in front of the Cotroceni Palace, dissatisfied with the proposals made by the Minister of Justice, Radu Marinescu, for the leadership of the General Prosecutor's Office, DNA and DIICOT. The demonstrators asked the president Nicușor Dan not to sign the appointment decrees.

“We are in front of the Cotroceni Palace to show Nicușor Dan that we are carefully following the appointments he makes at the General Prosecutor's Office, DNA and DIICOT,” the non-profit organization Declic said.

During the evening, President Nicușor Dan came out of the Cotroceni Palace and talked with the demonstrators. The head of state said that he will take responsibility for the decisions he will make regarding appointments in the prosecutor's office.

“What I can tell you is that I will assume the appointments that I will sign, that is, the prosecutors that will be signed by me will have my signature,” said the head of state, quoted by News.ro.

“I have a hundred times more information than you,” the head of state said.

“You will see the results of these appointments probably in six months from the moment they are appointed, because these people must come, get to know the institution and work with the people they find there. Also, what I can tell you is that I will periodically meet with them, with the heads of these institutions”, added Nicusor Dan.

Nicuşor Dan also told the protesters, about the referendum that he announced in court, that “we are working on that computer system that, on the one hand, will ensure confidentiality, because it was a requirement of the magistrates, and on the other hand, that this mechanism cannot be contested, that is, someone accuses us of having cast votes from one or the other”.
