Zelensky Discusses Military Aims and Funding with Defense Leaders

Zelensky: Tasks Defined, Funding Available

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed discussions with Defense Minister Yevhenii Khmara and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Mykhailo Drapaty regarding the implementation of long-range military operations. He emphasized that new tasks have been identified to enhance the capabilities of the Ukrainian military.

During these discussions, Zelensky laid out the importance of obtaining ammunition for combat aviation, particularly for F16s, and securing additional funding for the production of various types of drones and missiles. He expressed confidence in meeting deadlines for each agreement made.

In his evening address, Zelensky summarized the outcomes of the day’s meetings, mentioning a conversation with Ukrainian Prime Minister Serhii Korytsky about additional protective measures. He reiterated the key discussions with the defense and infrastructure ministers, highlighting the significance of reports concerning the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

The president noted, “We are increasing our defensive capabilities daily, addressing needs for turret systems and specialized groups to intercept Shahed drones. We expect manufacturers to respond quickly with interceptors. Tasks are defined, funding is available. We are preparing new contracts for air defense systems and missiles. While details are not yet public, there could be significant advancements. This is critical for us, and it is essential that decisions are made. I urge our partners: we need more anti-ballistic systems to protect our infrastructure, as this is currently our main challenge.”
