The US is spending billions on operations in Iran. Experts sound the alarm about the costs

Think tank experts noted that The Pentagon has only allocated $200 million in its budget for these activities. The remaining funds come from outside the previously approved financial plans, which will most likely force additional financing for the Ministry of Defense.
However, analysts predict a decline in spending in the near future. American forces intend to use less expensive weapons, and CSIS sources indicate a significant decline in the number of drones and missiles launched by Iran. These factors will contribute to reducing the costs of operations.

The amount of future expenses depends mainly on two elements. If Iran reduces the intensity of its attacks, costs will fall. However, in the event of effective retaliation, expenses may increase.
Pentagon plans cheaper systems
A representative of the American authorities informed Politico on Wednesday that The Pentagon is trying to transfer additional air defense to the Middle East. The ministry is focusing primarily on smaller and cheaper anti-drone systems, which it has been developing over recent years. The new systems are specifically designed against Shahed drones.
Past experience from the conflict shows the cost ineffectiveness of current solutions. The United States counters relatively cheap Iranian Shahed drones with missiles costing up to several million dollars.
