The costs of rebuilding the Gaza Strip were estimated at $70 billion

During Tuesday's press conference in Geneva, Jaco Cilliers from UNDP announced that USD 20 billion will be needed over the next three years to start reconstruction. He also noted that “we already have very good signals” regarding the international community's readiness to provide financial support. However, details of the declarations of individual countries have not been disclosed.

The conflict between Israel and Hamas, which has been ongoing for over two years, has caused enormous destruction in the Gaza Strip. According to UNDP, the war resulted in the creation of at least 55 million tons of debris, making the reconstruction process extremely complicated. Cilliers stressed that reconstruction could take “a decade or decades or even longer.”
