Negotiations on Ukraine are postponed due to the situation in the Middle East – Zelensky


“Now, due to the situation around Iran, there are still no necessary signals for a trilateral meeting. But as soon as the security situation and the general political context allow the continuation of exactly that trilateral diplomatic work, this will be done,” Zelensky said.

He stressed that Ukraine is ready for further negotiations.



Context

Since 2025, the United States has been negotiating with the aggressor country of the Russian Federation and Ukraine to end the Russian-Ukrainian war, in particular, the administration of US President Donald Trump presented a draft “peace plan.” The first round of negotiations between the delegations of Ukraine, the Russian Federation and the United States in Abu Dhabi took place on January 23 and 24. Next round – February 4th and 5th.

On February 17-18, delegations from the United States, Ukraine and Russia held talks in Geneva that focused on “practical issues and the mechanics of possible solutions.”

On February 25, Zelensky said that the next full meeting of the negotiating teams in a trilateral format is scheduled for early March.

On March 3, Zelensky announced that The next round of trilateral negotiations between Ukraine, the United States and Russia may take place on March 5th or 6th. Among the possible options for the meeting location, he named Switzerland, Austria, Turkey or the Vatican.
