Wilson’s friend, who fought with him, said that he died on December 12 in the Donetsk region, and before that he fought for several years.
The journalists' interlocutor said that the battle, which was Wilson's last, took place as part of the “last mission before vacation”, during which he was going to get married. He didn't live to see the wedding for about a week, he noted.
The channel noted that mourners of Wilson wrote on social networks that he died not for “fame, medals or newspaper headlines,” but because he “believed that some things are worth fighting for – even if it costs everything.”
Relatives of the deceased noted that Wilson “decided to stay, although it would have been easier to leave.”
ABC does not indicate in which specific area of the Donetsk region Wilson died, but calls it “the deadliest theater of military operations in this war.”
