Wooden cutting boards darken over time: traces of carrots, beets, garlic, and spices remain. Even after washing they look “tired”. Bleach and chlorine spoil wood, and the smell remains for a long time.
But there is a product that does not harm wood, does not smell and is in every kitchen.
What you will need:
- table salt – 1-2 tbsp. l.
- half a lemon
- soft sponge or brush
How to do:
- Sprinkle the surface of the board with salt.
- Cut the lemon in half and rub the salt over the entire surface, like a sponge.
- Leave for 2-3 minutes. Salt works as a mild abrasive, lemon as a natural bleach and antiseptic.
- Rinse with warm water and let the board dry vertically.
In just a couple of minutes, the board will become lighter, cleaner, without stains and odor. And most importantly, without chemicals and without the risk of damaging the tree.
Do this once a week and the board will last longer, remain hygienic and look well-groomed.
