How to prepare a greenhouse for winter: one solution kills all fungi and bacteria without bleach

When the harvest is harvested, the beds are empty, and the air becomes cool, it’s time to start working on the greenhouse. Many people at this stage simply close their doors and wait for spring – but in vain. It is in the fall that a simple but effective treatment is carried out, which rids the soil and frame of pathogenic fungi and bacteria. In spring, the plants will be rewarded with a bountiful harvest.

First, all plant residues are removed: tops, roots, weeds. You should not leave even small pieces – this is where disease spores and pest larvae most often overwinter. Then the frame and film are washed with water and laundry soap – this is enough to remove plaque and dirt.

The main stage is disinfection. Instead of bleach, which leaves an unpleasant odor and can damage the coating, use a solution of copper sulfate. It is enough to dilute 100 grams of powder in 10 liters of hot water and thoroughly treat the walls, shelving and ground. For metal frames, a 1% solution of iron sulfate is suitable – it not only destroys pathogens, but also protects the metal from rust.

Copper and iron sulfate effectively destroy fungi and bacteria without harming the soil. In the spring, when the soil warms up, beneficial microorganisms are quickly restored, and harmful ones do not return. This treatment reduces the risk of late blight, root rot and mold.
