Marcin Romanowski in 2025 he received almost PLN 280,000 from the Sejm. PLN lump sum for running a parliamentary office and an additional PLN 5,000. The politician has been wanted on an arrest warrant since December 2024 and is staying in Hungary, where he was granted political asylum.

Romanowski is one of the main suspects in the investigation into the Justice Fund. The National Prosecutor's Office accuses him of, among others, participation in an organized criminal group and arranging competitions for funds from the fund by indicating the beneficiaries of the subsidies to subordinate employees.
The Chancellery of the Sejm confirmed that the funds for the office had been paid. “In 2025, MP Marcin Romanowski did not receive a parliamentary salary or parliamentary allowance. In 2025, the MP was paid a lump sum to cover the costs related to the operation of the parliamentary office in the total amount of PLN 279,720 and funds for the renovation and equipment of the parliamentary office in the amount of PLN 5,000,” we read in a statement from the Chancellery of the Sejm sent to Wirtualna Polska.

After the arrest warrant was issued, Romanowski renounced his status as a professional MP and announced that he would not receive a parliamentary salary. In January 2024, Marshal of the Sejm Szymon Hołownia announced that Romanowski would not receive a parliamentary allowance or salary, but he would still be entitled to a lump sum for running a parliamentary office – until the law is changed.

Marcin Romanowski's main parliamentary office is located in Biłgoraj in the Lublin region. “Fakt” journalists visited them at the beginning of 2025. They found the door closed. As it turned out, after conversations with local residents – despite the politician's declaration about the constant availability of the office – the premises remained closed for many weeks.
Wirtualna Polska journalists tried to contact Romanowski's parliamentary office. They called the number provided on the Sejm website, but – as they write – the phone was switched off.
Amendment to the Act on the exercise of the mandate of a deputy and senator, which, among others, would block the payment of a lump sum to Romanowski, was adopted by the Sejm in February 2025. However, President Andrzej Duda referred it to the Constitutional Tribunal under preventive control mode. In October, the Tribunal found that some of the provisions of the amendment were unconstitutional, arguing that the Senate's amendments went beyond the scope of the act.
