Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan is meeting with Ursula von der Leyen and other European leaders in Brussels on Thursday to unlock the 231 million euros from the PNRR. Romania's priorities for the future European budget after 2028 are also on the agenda.
The prime minister's first meeting in Brussels is with Roxana Mînzatu, executive vice-president of the European Commission, commissioner for social rights and skills, quality jobs and training.
Later, Bolojan will talk with Valdis Dombrovskis, European commissioner for economy and productivity, implementation and simplification, and then with Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European Commission, according to the official program of the visit.
The government announced that the prime minister will support Romania's priorities for the future EU budget after 2028, which is now in full negotiation, before the leaders in Brussels. Ilie Bolojan will focus on preserving funds for agriculture and cohesion policy, but also on increasing economic competitiveness.
“The goal is the efficient use of European resources for investment projects that will stimulate economic growth in Romania,” the Executive said.
Also, issues related to the implementation of the PNRR and the recovery of the 231 million euros, after the adoption of the reform of the magistrates' special pensions, will be addressed.
The preparation of the working visit to Brussels included a discussion with Nicușor Dan and a last-minute meeting, on Wednesday evening, with the MEPs of the Coalition. The Prime Minister thus sought to align domestic priorities with the European agenda.
