Japan has been supporting Ukraine for some time, but it has not been doing so by sending weapons. Kiev receives, among others: Japanese off-road and engineering vehicles, specialized mine-clearing vehicles, as well as equipment that helps Ukraine fight the energy crisis caused by Russian attacks, e.g. power generators.

As President Zelensky revealed, as part of such cooperation, Kiev could offer the technological secrets of its naval kamikaze drones, which have shown impressive effectiveness in the fight against Russian ships in the Black Sea. Japan, as an island country that also competes with China for influence in the region, could actually be interested in this type of technology, which has already been proven in real combat conditions.

In a conversation with the Japanese media, Zelensky added that he very much hopes for the opening of a dialogue on this matter “in any format” and is ready to meet the Japanese authorities, also as part of a visit to the Land of the Rising Sun.
If Ukraine managed to gain Japan as a military ally, even to a limited extent, it would be a great success for our neighbor. After all, we are talking about one of the best and most modern armies in the world.
