Bucharest – Constanța is the route on which the most travelers travel by train, and the Bucharest – Henri Coandă line climbed to second place, surpassing the route between the Capital and Brașov, according to the data for the year 2025 published by Club Feroviar.

The most popular route is Bucharest – Constanțawith 1.65 million passengers last year, also being the fastest route. The maximum speed is 160 km/h and the average speed is 115 km/h for IC trains. The speeds can be reached after works of one billion euros which were finished in 2014.

The route climbed to second place in 2025 Bucharest North – Henri Coandă Airportwith 1.5 million passengers. Trains run every 40 minutes and the line was inaugurated at the end of 2020. Two operators have trains and the journey takes 21-25 minutes.

In third place is the route Bucharest – Brasovwhich in 2024 was two. There were over 1.4 million passengers on the section where there are over 30 trains a day, from five operators. Most are from CFR Călători and Regio Călători.

On the fourth and fifth places in the top are the routes Bucharest – Ploiești South and Bucharest – Ploiești Westwhere there are a total of over 60 trains per day, and the number of passengers is high, because we are talking about a route with a lot of commuters.

The data are from the Authority for Railway Reform, which states that “the data highlights the flow of people between the pairs of stations in the table (origin-destination), not including the flow between intermediate stations, because, at the present time, there are no routes defined in the database to include intermediate stations”.

Club Feroviar notes that if there had been the possibility of accounting for passengers traveling even shorter distances, the Titan Sud-Oltenița route, leased to Transferoviar Non-Interoperable Infrastructure, used mainly by commuters, who use Transferoviar Călători trains, would certainly have entered the top.
