The president of the UDMR, Kelemen Hunor, said that in Monday's meeting of the coalition, no one spoke about a possible exit from the government, despite the statements made in the public space by some of the social democrats.
Asked on Monday evening at Euronews about the PSD general secretary's statement regarding the “change of the fiddle”, an allusion to a possible exit from the government, the leader of the UDMR replied: “Today no one talked about the fiddle, the change of the orchestra”.
“Today there were no such discussions in the coalition, neither from the PSD nor from the USR side, and I don't want to get into the statements of my colleagues from the coalition, which were made at a certain time, in a certain context, because I don't know what they were thinking when they made these statements,” he continued.
“Lately we haven't really discussed big topics”
Kelemen Hunor said that the coalition also talked about “the need to address certain more difficult political issues”.
“If we discussed like this, more adversarial, we discussed Mercosur and we discussed the need to address certain more difficult political topics, that we, in the coalition, do not discuss strategies, we do not discuss important political issues in the medium term, in the long term, for Romania. We put out fires and light the fire elsewhere”, said the UDMR leader.
He said that such topics are not addressed “because no one proposed this thing” and because there are also cases when, for example, the relevant minister or a presidential adviser must participate.
“We, not today, not yesterday, never recently have we really discussed about big issues and it's a mistake (…). No one is stopping us, but today we decided that we will have a political discussion every month and not just discussions on specific issues, that those must also be discussed”, also declared the leader of the UDMR, Kelemen Hunor.
