In Krasnoyarsk, a 35-year-old resident of Achinsk was found guilty by the court of violating traffic rules, which resulted in the death of a person as a result of an accident, and was sentenced to imprisonment.
Everything happened in June 2024 on Peter Podzolkov Street in the regional center. The driver, together with two colleagues, took his VAZ-21140 car from the impound lot and got ready to go to work. The men were engaged in interior decoration of constructed apartment buildings in the Chizhi microdistrict.
Almost immediately the motorist accelerated to 75 km/h, and after a while he was distracted by a fallen lighter and did not notice that the road turned right. He ended up driving onto the sidewalk, where the car crashed into a street lighting pole.
As a result of the collision, a 43-year-old passenger in the car died on the spot.
“The examination showed that the driver was in a state of drug intoxication – prohibited substances were found in his blood. In court, the man partially admitted his guilt and said that he had used drugs 5 days before the accident, when he was celebrating his birthday. He already had a previous conviction for drug possession,” the prosecutor’s office said.
For a fatal accident under paragraph “a” of Part 4 of Art. 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation he was sentenced to 5.5 years in a general regime colony with deprivation of the right to drive transport for 2 years.
