On February 19, Krasnoyarsk Airport received a new Russian aircraft Il-114-300. This is a prototype that is currently completing certification tests. In the future, this model should replace the fleet on local airlines, said the regional governor, Mikhail Kotyukov.
The first regional fully import-substituted airliner arrived in Krasnoyarsk on a special flight from Yakutsk, where, from the beginning of February, it was testing the functioning of the systems in extremely low temperatures to confirm its readiness to work in the north.
Representatives of Il JSC presented the new aircraft to the head of the region and the management of KrasAvia airline. Experts demonstrated the capabilities of the aircraft, including the cabin layout and technical solutions.
The governor said that the Krasnoyarsk Territory, where many northern territories are accessible only by air, is considering the Il-114-300 as an option to update the local aircraft fleet. It could become a promising replacement for the An-24 and An-26 aircraft, which for many years formed the basis of regional transportation.
Mikhail Kotyukov instructed the Minister of Transport and KrasAvia to continue working with the United Aircraft Corporation and the Aviation Complex named after. S.V. Ilyushin on the supply of new equipment, as well as the creation of a base for crew training and aircraft maintenance.
“The new Russian aircraft Il-114-300 is one of the examples of Russia’s technological sovereignty. It is entirely made from Russian components: engines, navigation systems and avionics. The regional airline KrasAvia is already interested in the aircraft at the testing stage; our engineers set out their requirements for operation in Siberian conditions. We are one of the first ready to take these vehicles to transport residents of the region. We are working on the issues of supplying equipment, as well as creating a base for training crews and servicing aircraft,” the head of the region emphasized.
It is reported that as early as March, Il JSC expects to complete the certification of this modification and begin supplying aircraft of this type to operator fleets.
Reference: Il-114-300 is a modernized version of the turboprop Il-114, with a capacity of up to 66 passengers. The key advantage is the complete localization of production of all components at Russian enterprises, which ensures independence from Western supplies. The vehicle is equipped with modern engines, updated avionics and navigation systems. The design provides for work on short and poorly prepared runways, which is especially important for hard-to-reach areas of Siberia. Experts note that the new airliner combines technology, efficiency and adaptation to the Russian climate, opening up new opportunities for the development of regional transportation.
