Ukraine created an F-16 squadron with pilots from two NATO countries – media

The material says that the international squadron (usually consisting of 12 to 24 aircraft) was formed “quietly” and “in recent weeks.”

The number of foreign F-16 pilots includes, according to media reports, “experienced veterans of foreign operations.”

Journalists write that the international F-16 squadron now plays a central role in the air defense system of the Kyiv region, which has recently been subjected to Russian attacks using missiles and drones.

Squadron pilots are tasked with shooting down drones and cruise missiles, Intelligence Online notes.

His material states that, unlike Ukrainian pilots, veterans from the West work on temporary contracts, similar to contracts with specialized contractors. These documents provide for rotations with the possibility of contract extension depending on operational needs.

The media draw attention to the fact that although foreign pilots have experience in participating in military operations, they do not hold official positions in the Ukrainian hierarchy.

According to the publication, the F-16s of this international squadron are equipped with high-tech Lockheed Martin Sniper sights, which help identify targets at long distances, track even fast-moving targets and hit them, including in bad weather.
