Hungary blocks EU loan to Ukraine due to stoppage of oil transit – Foreign Ministry

Szijjártó said that Ukraine is allegedly blackmailing the country by stopping oil supplies in coordination with Brussels and the Hungarian opposition. The purpose of this, he said, is to create supply disruptions and raise fuel prices before the elections.

“By blocking the transit of oil to Hungary through the Druzhba pipeline, Ukraine is violating the Association Agreement between the EU and Ukraine, failing to fulfill its obligations to the EU. We will not succumb to this blackmail,” the Foreign Minister wrote.

Suspilne also confirmed that Hungary blocked the provision of a loan to Ukraine in the amount of €90 billion, refusing to vote for changes to the long-term EU budget until 2027.

Earlier, members of the European Parliament voted for three pieces of legislation that would provide Ukraine with an EU loan of €90 billion for 2026–2027, but for their implementation the European Commission needs final approval from the EU Council, the article says.
