Poland-Sweden cable failure. PSE: The system works stably, no signs of intentional operation

There was a failure of the Poland-Sweden power cable connection; there is no indication of intentional action, the Polish power system operates without disruptions, the transmission operator PSE announced on Thursday.

The Polish power system operates stably and all safety criteria are met, the operator emphasized. According to PSE, at the moment everything indicates that the failure was not caused by intentional action. Preparation for repair of the damaged element is in progress.

According to market data from NordPool, the cable stopped working on Wednesday before 12 p.m. 20 Polish time, and the currently expected date of its restart is midnight from Friday to Saturday.

The SwePol Link connection is a direct current (HVDC) cable line, capable of operating with a power of 600 MW. It is over 250 km long, of which less than 240 km runs at the bottom of the Baltic Sea. The cable was launched in 2000 (PAP)
