Earthquake in the Vrancea seismic zone. What a magnitude it had

An earthquake with a magnitude of 3.5 occurred on the night of Saturday to Sunday, at 1:54 a.m., in the Vrancea seismic zone, Vrancea county, according to data published by the National Research and Development Institute for Earth Physics (INCDFP).

The earthquake occurred at a depth of 155.8 kilometers (km), near the following cities: 42 km west of Focşani, 59 km north of Buzau, 69 km east of Sfântu-Gheorghe, 80 km east of Braşov and 93 km northeast of Ploiesti, according to INCDFP.

Since the beginning of this year, 31 earthquakes with magnitudes between 2 and 3.7 have occurred in Romania.

The largest earthquakes of 2025, both with a magnitude of 4.4, occurred on February 13, in Buzău county, and on May 11, in Vrancea county.
