Finland will not become a nuclear state – President

According to Stubb, there used to be two nuclear superpowers – the United States and Russia – and now China has joined them.

Now the question is how the three nuclear superpowers can limit their own production of nuclear weapons, the Finnish president noted.

As Stubb pointed out, about a quarter of the world's 200 states “could develop their own nuclear weapons,” but Finland “is not and will not become a nuclear state.”

Thus, the politician does not see the need to change the US nuclear deterrent.

The fact that Europe could start a discussion about its own nuclear deterrent was stated in an interview with Helsingin Sanomat on February 6 by the head of EU diplomacy, Kaja Kallas.
