Employees of the Krasnoyarsk customs office established facts of smuggling of 10 thousand cubic meters of softwood lumber worth 140.3 million rubles to the countries of Central Asia.

According to the press service of the department, during operational search activities together with the regional department of the FSB and the Siberian Line Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the organizer of illegal supplies was identified. He turned out to be a 46-year-old director of the company.

When declaring the goods, he provided false information about the suppliers of exported timber in order to hide its illegal origin.

“Krasnoyarsk customs opened 3 criminal cases against the suspect under Part 1 of Article 226.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Smuggling of strategically important goods on a large scale). The sanction of the article provides for a maximum penalty of a fine of up to 1 million rubles or imprisonment for up to 5 years,” explained the Krasnoyarsk customs office.

The investigation is ongoing.
