Ballistic missiles hit Kiev on Tuesday morning in a new attack by the Russians, hours after US President Donald Trump said that “we are doing very well with Ukraine and Russia”, according to The Guardian and News.ro.

Several buildings were damaged following the attacks launched by Russia on Kiev, local authorities reported. Explosions were also reported in other Ukrainian regions.

This is the first attack after a break of about a week accepted by Russian President Vladimir Putin following a “personal request” from US President Donald Trump, but also the trilateral talks between Russia, Ukraine and the US in Abu Dhabi.

An energy truce was discussed in Abu Dhabi, which Russia would have maintained only until Sunday, February 1, Kiev said on Monday.

The attack also came hours after Donald Trump said his administration could soon come with good news on efforts to end the four-year war in Ukraine.

“I think we're doing very well on Ukraine and Russia. I'm saying that for the first time,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office of the White House on Monday. “I think we're going to have, maybe, some good news,” Trump added.

The next round of talks aimed at ending the war in Ukraine will take place on Wednesday and Thursday also in Abu Dhabi.
