American President Donald Trump claimed on Wednesday that he is still in good health and that he has not lost his energy, thus reacting to a “defamatory” article in which an “ugly” journalist of the “cheap book” New York Times tries to convince through an analysis of his physical appearances that he has problems of a medical nature, reports Agerpres.

“The demented radical leftists at the soon-to-be-shuttered New York Times published a smear article about me saying I must be losing my energy, despite the facts to the contrary,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social social network.

“This CHEAP SKIN is truly an ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE. Katie Rogers (…) is a second-rate, nasty journalist, inside and out,” the president added, citing the author of that article.

The latter, in the article published on Tuesday, writes that the number of public appearances of Trump between his inauguration on January 20 and November 25 decreased by 39% compared to the similar period of his first term. Trump's workday also starts later and he travels less within the US, she added, in an attempt to prove that the president, who will turn 80 next year, has more serious health problems.

After the president's reaction, the New York Times came to the defense of its journalist, who it wrote that she “exemplifies how a free and independent press helps Americans better understand the government and those who lead it.”

The oldest president of the USA at the time of the inauguration, the Republican Donald Trump is trying to highlight his vitality to distinguish himself from his Democratic predecessor, Joe Biden, whose cognitive decline became more and more clear towards the end of his term and avoided contacts with the press, and, according to Trump, had come to systematically use the automatic signature (autopen) in official documents.

However, questions about Trump's health also began to emerge after he was seen in public with swollen ankles and a bruise on the back of his hand that he had tried to hide by using a foundation with a shade that did not match his skin color. Also, at a recent event in the Oval Office he appeared close to dozing off.

The White House officially announced in July that Trump was suffering from chronic venous insufficiency, a common condition in the elderly, but said at the time that he was in “excellent health,” as he now says in a message about that article. “There will come a day when I don't have energy, it happens to everyone, but with a complete physical exam and a complete cognitive test (which I passed with an excellent result) recently, it is definitely not the time,” assured Trump, who also recently underwent an MRI exam, without specifying the reason.
