As RIA Tomsk writes with reference to Alexey Chernov, deputy manager of the Tomsk branch of the Bank of Russia, “black lenders” are increasingly using cryptocurrencies, since the anonymity of transfers makes it difficult to identify them. Such projects operate outside the legal framework.

“Communication with clients is carried out through instant messengers and social networks. Through these same channels, sensitive personal information is subsequently collected for aggressive debt collection,” Chernov explained.

The expert emphasized that real microfinance organizations (MFOs) work only with rubles. If a client is offered a crypto loan, this is a clear sign of illegal activity. Such creditors do not respect legal limits on the amount of debt, may hide huge interest rates and use blackmail to collect.
