“We are not intermediaries.” Merz spoke about the likelihood of negotiations with Putin

He noted the need for direct negotiations between Ukraine and Russia.

“We are accompanying these negotiations [в Абу-Даби] with great support and hope that they will lead to results as quickly as possible. I emphasize once again: negotiations are needed primarily between Ukraine and Russia. These are two warring sides,” Merz said.

He noted that he is in touch with representatives of Ukraine.

“We accompany and advise the Ukrainian side, but we are not mediators here. We are on Ukraine’s side and support its efforts to end this war,” the chancellor added.
