Media Cristian Andrei was questioned on Wednesday at the headquarters of the Criminal Investigation Service Sector 1, where he was brought in handcuffs at the end of a day of searches, and will be investigated in freedom, according to Agerpres.
“At this point in the process, after the searches, he was heard. The evidence is still being administered and possible subsequent measures are being analyzed together with the case prosecutor,” Police representatives told HotNews.
They emphasized that, although Cristian Andrei was brought to the police headquarters in handcuffs, this is an administrative measure, and the decision will be taken by the case prosecutor.
The statement made at the exit from the hearings
The doctor Cristian Andrei is accused of sexually assaulting several patients during therapy sessions, and of practicing the profession of psychologist without right. His home was raided throughout the day on Wednesday, and the doctor was taken to the hearings, in handcuffs, flanked by the police.
“We have a lot of things to discuss, but not now, because I don't know who and why”, stated Cristian Andrei upon leaving the hearings.
Cosmin Rîcanu, the representative of the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) Sector 1, said on Wednesday that in the case of Cristian Andrei, six arrest warrants were executed for two people involved, as well as for four identified witnesses.
“A home search took place, during which the colleagues from the Special Actions Service entered the yard of the building without using force, shots were also fired there, with a rubber projectile, the potentially aggressive animals that could endanger the safety of my colleagues were not injured, no destruction was caused”, said Cosmin Rîcanu, at the SIC Sector 1 headquarters.
“We have five people and witnesses who filed complaints who were injured in this case,” added the SIC Sector 1 representative.
PressOne wrote in November that he does not hold a license to practice freely from the College of Psychologists and that several patients accuse him of sexual advances and emotional manipulation. According to the publication, the first reported abuses date back to 1998, just five years after Cristian Andrei became a psychiatrist.
After the revelations in the press, the Capital Police announced that “it filed a complaint ex officio”.

The charges against him
According to the investigators, during the period 2004-2025, Cristian Andrei would have carried out activities specific to the profession of psychologist, although he would not have graduated from an accredited psychology faculty and would not have a certificate of free practice issued by the Romanian College of Psychologists.
Between 2019 and 2024, he allegedly misled three women, saying he was a psychologist, and induced them to pay for several psychotherapy sessions, even though he was not legally qualified to do so.
Following the investigations, the police established that between 21.10.2019 and 15.03.2020, during psychotherapy sessions, held at the headquarters of a specialized institute, with a working point in the city of Bucharest, Sector 1, whose president would be Cristian Andrei, he would have exercised acts of sexual aggression on an injured person, taking advantage of the state of vulnerability and emotional dependence generated by the therapeutic relationship.
“In the same context and time interval, the man would have also committed the crime of rape, consisting in the fact that, taking advantage of the injured person's inability to express his will, he would have had sexual intercourse with her. Also, on 09.01.2024, during a psychotherapy session held at the headquarters of the same institute, with a working point in sector 2, taking advantage of the state of vulnerability of another injured persons, under his psychotherapeutic care, under the pretext of playing a psychological game, would have exercised acts of sexual aggression on her, consisting of embracing her by the arms and forced kissing”, the Capital Police also declared.
The investigators say that on January 24, in the same place, Cristian Andrei would have tried to commit a crime of sexual assault, by coercion, “by grabbing the injured person's hand and trying to place it on his genital area, over his clothes, and later trying to kiss her, taking her in his arms and squeezing her tightly”.
According to the investigation, on 18.11.2024, at the headquarters of the institute with another work point in Sector 1, using the authority of the position and the relationship of subordination to a third injured person, a student who carried out practical activities under his coordination, the man would have exercised acts of sexual aggression, consisting of touching her under her clothes, and later, through coercion, he would have continued the acts of a sexual nature, including forced touches, preventing the injured person from defending himself.
What the doctor was saying about the charges
Confronted with the first accusations of sexual harassment, before PressOne published the investigation that revealed that the doctor was practicing without a certificate, Cristian Andrei claimed that he would never have harmed any person who entered his office and that the accusations were false: “How can I have sexual relations? During the psychotherapy session you are doing psychotherapy.”
He admitted that he does not have a certificate of free practice in psychotherapy from the College of Psychologists in Romania, saying that he does not even intend to ask for one.
In Wednesday's press release, the Capital Police did not explicitly name Cristian Andrei, but said that policemen from the General Directorate of Police of the Municipality of Bucharest – Criminal Investigation Service Sector 1 executed three home search warrants in the municipality of Bucharest, Târgoviște and in Ilfov county, in a file in which investigations are being carried out under the aspect of committing fraud crimes, the unlawful exercise of a professions or activities, rape and sexual assault.
