Bizarre accounts at the Vaslui Court. Over 1 million lei, from public money, spent on rent, transport and medicine

The Vaslui court and its subordinate institutions registered, in 2025, total expenses of over 1.1 million lei for salaries, allowances, rents, transport and accounts for medicines and glasses, notes the local publication Vremea Nouă.

According to published information, court employees in Vaslui County, including judges and clerks, benefited from transport and fuel bills totaling 723,609 lei last year. For rents, 190,616 lei were allocated, and for medicines and glasses – 87,798 lei, of which 75,336 lei for medicines and 12,462 lei for glasses.
In addition to these, court employees received two financial incentives: one for food, worth 4,264 lei/person/year, and another for vacation, 800 lei/person/year.
Judges' salaries start from 14,810 lei for a rookie and can reach 26,753 lei for the president of the Tribunal, to which are added various increases, including risk, confidentiality and difficult or harmful conditions. Thus, the total income of magistrates can vary between 17,035 and 35,079 lei.
In total, the increases granted in 2025 for the employees of the Vaslui courts amounted to 7,571,156 lei, including for risk and neuropsychological overload, harmful conditions and increased confidentiality. Other special rights include 35 days' vacation and, upon retirement, the possibility of receiving an allowance equal to seven monthly wages.
Law 247/2005 on the reform in the fields of property and justice regulates these rights, stipulating that the salaries and benefits of judges and prosecutors cannot be reduced or suspended except in certain situations provided by law.
