How will Volodimir Zelenski dress at the meeting with Donald Trump, after being criticized for the outfit. Announcement made by the president's designer

Tensioned meeting of Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski with US President Donald Trump, White House, Washington, DC, US
The President of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelenski, will give up his usual outfit when he meets his American counterpart, Donald Trump, on Monday, at the White House, instead opting for a military -style suit, said one of his creators for Politico.
Zelenski had been criticized by some of the Republicans because he did not dress elegantly when he came to talk to Trump at Washington at the end of February, during a visit that would turn into a diplomatic fiasco. The sources of Axios say that the American side has tried to find out what the Ukrainian leader will wear now.
“This time, the president (Zelenski) will carry a suit, but the style remains in a military key, with the same symbolism: he is the head of state, who is in the war,” said Elvira Gasanova, a Ukrainian businesswoman and designer of the Damirli brand, who produces one of the emblematic outfits.
“At the same time, it is important to emphasize that Volodimir Zelenski is the person who personally decides to wear,” she added.
“The president is now in a state in which every detail matters-his appearance, the mood, the emotions. Therefore, as a leader of Ukraine, he chooses the image that best suits his role and the moment,” explained Gasanova.
Criticized for how to dress at the February visit
The clothing elections of the Ukrainian president, who transmit solidarity with the armed forces and the country devastated by the war, attracted both praises and critics. When he went to the White House in February, Zelenski wore a black Polo T -shirt with the coat of arms of Ukraine, and Trump welcomed him with a sarcastic remark: “You are dressed elegantly today.”
At that time, the President of Ukraine was also reprimanded by a reporter for the decision not to carry out the meeting with his American counterpart, a meeting that has shortly degenerated into an heated exchange, to the Ukrainian president reproaching him, among others, that he would not have shown enough gratitude for the US. The meeting ended suddenly, and a press conference and a planned lunch were canceled after the confrontation in the Oval Office.
“I will wear a costume after this war is over, yes. Maybe something like yours, yes, maybe something better,” Zelenski replied to that reporter.
According to the Financial Times, Volodimir Zelenski swore in 2022 that he will no longer wear a suit and tie and will not shave until the war is over.
