In honor of Russian Student Day today, January 25, main city clock of Krasnoyarsk on Teatralnaya Square changed the tune. “Student’s Song” or “From the Vagants” will sound from the chimes’ speakers throughout the day.
According to the city administration, the first performance of the melody took place today at 9:00 am. It can also be heard at 12:00, 15:00, 18:00 and 21:00. Krasnoyarsk “Big Ben” traditionally changes its musical accompaniment in honor of public holidays and important dates.

Let us remind you that on January 25, Russia celebrates Student Day (Tatyana’s Day). The history of the holiday of Russian students is closely connected with the history of Moscow University. By decree of Empress Elizabeth Petrovna, it began its work on January 25, 1755 – St. Tatiana's Day. From that time on, the holiday began to be celebrated in Moscow, and later this practice migrated to other cities.
In 2005, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree according to which Student Day on January 25 became the country's official holiday.
