Iran used ballistics to attack the world's largest liquefied natural gas plant

As Bloomberg recalls, Ras Laffan is one of the most important energy hubs in the world and the location of the largest liquefied natural gas plant. It is here that approximately 20% of the world's LNG supplies are produced, making the facility critical to the global energy market. The complex covers an area of ​​approximately 295 km², where there are also gas processing plants, storage facilities, gas-to-liquid fuel plants and an oil refinery.

Context

Against the backdrop of the war between the United States and Israel with Iran, shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the most important routes for global oil trade, through which millions of barrels of crude oil and petroleum products pass from the Middle East to Asia, Europe and the United States every day, has practically stopped since March 1.
