President Nicușor Dan's speech at the ceremonies in Focșani on the Day of the Union of the Romanian Principalities was booed by some of those present. Faced with this reaction, the president emphasized that they have this right to boo the public authorities, but to remember that this right comes with a responsibility.

“Happy birthday dear people of Focșan who boo the public authorities. It's a right you won, it's a right for which some people died so that any citizen of this country has the right to boo a public authority”, answered Nicușor Dan after some of the participants booed and demanded their resignation.

“However, this right also comes with a responsibility. The responsibility is to look at who are the people in whom you put your hopes. Don't only think about step 1, think about step 2 as well. You have a responsibility for yourself, for your children, you have a responsibility for the whole of Romania”, he concluded.

President Nicușor Dan participates on Saturday, on the Day of the Union of the Principalities, at the demonstrations in Focșani and Iași. The head of state began his visit to Focșani at the “Unirea” National College, on which occasion he decorated the educational institution for its 160th anniversary.

On this occasion, Dan conveyed that “it is our obligation to fight for values such as the truth, such as the value of science and knowledge in society” and asked the students to continue believing in this country, even if it is not easy for their generation.
