Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and Spacex, officially leaves the Trump Administration after four months of office to lead the Doge program (Department for government efficiency), but US President Donald Trump has given assurances that he will frequently return to the White House, notes Reuters.

“Elon does not actually leave,” Trump said on Friday at a press conference organized at the Oval Bureau, where Musk, wearing a Doge cap and a “The Dogefather” shirt, stayed with him. “It will be here, it will come and leave,” the president added.

“Elon has worked tirelessly, contributing to the largest and most important government reform in the last generations,” Trump said.

Initially, the White House and high-ranking counselors insisted that Musk, the richest man in the world, was a key figure that will not leave anywhere. But, more recently, they began to mention the expiration of his special mandate as a 130 -day government employee, who was to end around May 30, as a natural end.

Musk said he intends to dedicate most of the energy of his business empire, including Tesla and Spacex companies, after some investors have expressed concern that the Doge project occupies too much time.

He also stated that he intends to reduce his political expenses, after spending almost $ 300 million supporting Trump's presidential campaign and other Republicans in 2024.

Musk led the Doge program with the promise to cut federal expenses of over $ 2,000 billion. In fact, according to Doge estimates, about $ 175 billion was saved, and the data published on the official site indicates less than half of this amount.

According to US Treasury documents, revised by Reuters, the agencies targeted by Doge reduced the expenses by only $ 19 billion compared to the same period last year, ie about 0.5% of the total federal expenses.

“This is not the end of Doge, but just the beginning,” Musk said, expressing his confidence that the program will bring much more consistent savings.
