More than 2,000 Romanians participated on Saturday in the Union March in Iași, organized by AUR, according to the balance provided by the party. The leader of the formation, deputy George Simion, did not participate in the demonstration, being at an event in The Hague.

On the same day, President Nicușor Dan was present at the ceremony in Piața Unirii in Iasi, where he was booed by some of those present. There were also supporters of the AUR and SOS Romania parties, led by Diana Șoșoacă.

At the AUR demonstration, among others, “National unity” and “Long live and flourish Moldova, Transylvania and Wallachia” were chanted.

“Cuza, Your Highness, we have not finished what you started, because we still have the seventh part of Romania, beyond the Prut, and we have to bring it home, and we still have to finish a highway to Iasi, and we still have to build a high-speed railway line to Iasi, and we will finish what you started, Your Highness, Cuza, when we bring Moldova to the level of the national average from an economic point of view”, said the president of the National Council of AUR and the leader party senators, Petrișor Peiu.

Peiu said that the governments that existed over the years left Moldova “behind Transylvania, behind Muntenia”.

“We must not lie and we must not remain only in applause and cheers. We still have to build this united country and we have to recover the ground that many governments have wrongly left lost here in Moldova. They let the economy here be behind Transylvania, behind Muntenia, and this cannot remain any longer, because the whole country will be made as Cuza and Kolgălniceanu wanted when the whole country will be the same prosperity,” Petrișor Peiu also declared.

The leader of AUR, deputy George Simion, did not participate in the march in Iași, but was in The Hague.

“Bravo Bucharest, Bravo Focșani, Bravo Iași! Happy New Year!”, he wrote in a post on Facebook.
