— Islamists have taken control of Damascus and Homs. Explosions are heard in the capital.
— The militants released prisoners in prisons. These are Central Aleppo, Central Hama, Central Suwayda, Central Deir ez-Zor, Central Homs, Izraa and the military security prison in Saas.
— The capital’s international airport is not working – it has been captured by the rebels. Crowds of people flock there.
— The opposition claims that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad left the country on a military plane. There is no confirmation of this information yet.
