The journalist noted that after recent photos of Sofia Rotaru in the center of Kyiv, everyone was convinced of the words of her younger sister that the singer lives in Ukraine.
“Well, no one believed me. They said she was abroad,” Aurika Rotaru emphasized.
She added that she continues to communicate with her sister as if she were a family member.
“We are always in touch. If there is an opportunity, we meet. Walk around the site, breathe fresh air, talk about our family. In general, about everything. Because this is a family. If there is no opportunity, on the phone: “How are you? How was your night? How was it quiet for you? Is it loud at your place?” Unfortunately, we don’t see each other very often, because now I’m preparing for a concert, these air raids are endless… I don’t want to be away, I have something to do,” the singer shared.
Context
Before the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by the aggressor country of the Russian Federation, Rotaru sang in the Russian capital and other Russian cities, and in 2017 she performed at the birthday party of the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov.
In 2021, President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky presented Rotaru with the “National Legend of Ukraine” award.
On February 24, 2022, the singer refrained from publicly condemning the actions of the aggressor, but periodically responds to massive shelling of Ukrainian cities by Russian occupiers.
