The president of the AUR party, George Simion, is visiting the United States these days, together with several members of the party. In a video posted on X and shared by an organization affiliated with the conservative US Republican Party, Simion is seen cutting a cake in the shape of Greenland, the Danish territory that Donald Trump is trying to annex.

The George Simion video was originally published by an X account named Mark Naughton, who presents himself as a journalist. The images were later redistributed by the political advocacy group Republicans for National Renewal, which is affiliated with conservatives in the Republican Party and describes itself as upholding national and “America First” values.

In the video, George Simion is surrounded by several people. He at one point takes the knife and cuts the cake which is shaped like Greenland.

“We're going to be there for all the free people in the world,” says George Simion at one point. HotNews reached out to George Simion for a point of view on the matter, but the AUR leader did not respond to reporters' requests.

An image of the Greenland-shaped cake was also posted on X by a member of the US Congress, Anna Paulina Luna, and images from the event were also posted by Republican Michael Casey, also a member of Congress.

The images were published online in the early hours of Wednesday morning as the Davos Forum, attended by many world leaders, is dominated by the topic of Greenland. Also on Wednesday, Donald Trump arrived in Switzerland to attend the Davos Forum in a tense climate over his desire to annex Greenland, which has threatened the transatlantic alliance.

A few hours before Trump arrived in Switzerland, Ursula von der Leyen called on Europe to abandon “traditional prudence” in the face of the challenges of an “increasingly anarchic” world defined by “brute power”: “This moment of global change is full of dangers,” she stressed.
