The wish of the Trump administration to send Tomahawk missiles, with a long range, to Ukraine could be impossible to achieve, as current stocks are intended for the US navy and other uses, says an American official and three other sources, according to Reuters.

On Sunday, US Vice -President JD Vance said Washington is considering the request of Ukraine to receive long -range Tomahawk missiles, which could cause strong blows to the depth of Russia, including in Moscow. Reuters wrote on Wednesday that the US intends to provide Ukraine information about Russia's energy infrastructure targets that can be hit with long -range armament.

But an American official and sources familiar with training and supply of Tomahawk missile have questioned the feasibility of the scenario on the provision of cruise missiles, which have a range of 2,500 kilometers (1,550 miles).

The American official stressed that there is no shortage of this basic weapon, which is often used by the American army for terrestrial attacks, suggesting that other short -range weapons options could be provided to Kiev.

The official said that the US could consider the opportunity to allow European allies to buy other long -range weapons and provide them with Ukraine, but Tomahawk rockets are unlikely.

Trump's major position change

In recent weeks, US President Donald Trump has radically changed his speech on the Ukraine war, suggesting that Kiev forces can regain all the territories occupied by Russia and qualifying the Russian army as a “paper tiger”. The US decision to help Ukraine with secret information, based on which Russia's energy infrastructure is targeted, seems to be one of the concrete results of the new position of the Washington administration, notes Reuters.

A new financial mechanism, the list of Ukraine's priorities (Purl), was developed by the US and its allies to provide Ukraine new weapons and military equipment from the stocks of the American army, using funds from NATO.

Providing Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine could significantly expand Kiev's capabilities, allowing them to hit targets deep in the Russian territory, including military bases, logistics centers, aerodromes and control centers that are currently inaccessible.

The Kremlin said on Thursday that if the US provides Tomahawk rockets, this would trigger a new dangerous climbing ride between Russia and the West.

According to the Pentagon's budget documents, the US Marina, the main user of the Tomahawk missiles, has so far acquired 8,959 missiles, at an average price of $ 1.3 million each.

The Tomahawk rocket has been produced since the mid -1980s. In recent years, production has ranged between 55 and 90 missiles per year. According to the Pentagon's budget data, the US intends to buy 57 missiles in 2026.

On Monday, Moscow stated that his army analyzes whether or not the US will provide cruise missiles of Tomahawk Ukraine to make blows in the depth of Russian territory.
