President Nicușor Dan welcomes the initiative of the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, regarding the promotion of international peace and security. The head of state also announced the start of an analysis process regarding the international commitments assumed by Romania.

“The President of Romania, Nicușor Dan, welcomes the initiative of the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, regarding the promotion of international peace and security, including efforts dedicated to identifying solutions for the conflict in Gaza and other major global challenges.

In this context, the President of Romania started an in-depth analysis process of the content and implications of the Board of Peace Charter, in relation to the international commitments assumed previously by Romania, especially those within the United Nations Organization, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, as well as the European Union“, the Presidential Administration sent.

According to the information provided, “this assessment aims to establish the degree of compatibility of the new initiative with the existing obligations of the Romanian state and to identify the optimal ways in which Romania can contribute to achieving our common goal of consolidating peace in the world”.

President Nicușor dan is not going to Davos

The President of Romania, Nicușor Dan, participates on Thursday, January 22, in the extraordinary meeting of the European Council. However, the head of state does not participate in Davos, organized between January 19 and 23, 2026, at the meeting of President Trump with those who wish to join the World Peace Council. The Presidential Administration confirmed receiving an invitation, along with more than 60 other heads of state, according to international media. Among the states that were not invited are Estonia, Latvia, or Lithuania.

The Romanian delegation will include the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Oana Țoiu, and the presidential adviser, Radu Burnete.
