Who was the woman shot in Minneapolis?

What were the circumstances of the shooting?

How did the mayor of Minneapolis react to this event?

Was Renee Good involved in the anti-ICE protests?

— Renee was one of the best people I ever knew. She was incredibly compassionate. She cared for people all her life. She was loving and forgiving. She was an amazing person, the woman told The Minnesota Star Tribune.

The newspaper also contacted the father of Renee's ex-husband, who died in 2023, with whom the woman had a six-year-old son. The boy's grandfather was shocked by the news of his former daughter-in-law's death.

A heartbreaking video also appeared on social media, showing the deceased woman's partner. Someone filmed her crying and blaming herself for Renee's death, just steps from the car where she was shot. “I'm the one who told her to come here, it's my fault.” They shot my wife. They shot her in the head. Our six-year-old is at school, said the distraught woman, quoted by the New York Post.

A woman died in Minneapolis during a deportation operation

In Minneapolis, in the US state of Minnesota, a 37-year-old woman was killed on Wednesday when an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer opened fire during a large-scale deportation operation. The shooting sparked a wave of protests and sharp criticism of the city authorities against the federal administration.

According to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), an ICE officer fired shots “out of fear for his own life and the safety of others” when the woman allegedly “used the vehicle as a weapon” and tried to hit the agents.

“The officer fired shots while defending himself,” said DHS spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin, quoted by Reuters. In turn, DHS chief Kristi Noem described the woman's actions as an “act of domestic terrorism” and announced further protection of federal agents.

CNN reported that footage from the scene shows agents approaching a car blocking the street. As the vehicle begins to drive away, shots are fired within seconds and then the car hits another vehicle.

– Dude, you committed murder, why? — a witness can be heard screaming in the recording.

Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara announced that a 37-year-old white woman who had no pending immigration proceedings was killed. She was shot in the head and died after being taken to hospital. The case was taken over by the FBI and state investigators.

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey firmly rejected the version of self-defense pushed by federal authorities.

– This is complete nonsense. “I saw the video, it was a reckless abuse of power that resulted in the death of a man,” Frey said, calling on ICE units to leave the city.

Similar calls were made by Congresswoman Ilhan Omar and Senator Tina Smith, both of the Democratic Party.
