People melted the snow for several days to drink and warmed themselves by digging a hole in the snow. One of the survivors said that they were lucky and that the army taught them how to survive in extreme places.
“The pilots heard signals that they were being searched for, but due to bad weather they could not respond. So they were found by rescuers from the Kamchatka RPSB of the Federal Air Transport Agency and taken to the hospital with hypothermia. One pilot will undergo surgery; he has a closed head injury. The second one has a chest bruise.
— A criminal case has been initiated under the article “Violation of traffic safety rules and operation of air transport.” The crew was evacuated.
— The An-2 belongs to a private company; the flight carried 800 kg of food and spare parts for gold miners. On the day the plane went missing, its Cospas-Sarsat emergency radio beacon went off. The An-2 could not be found for a long time due to weather conditions.
