Donald Trump strongly defended the ICE officer who shot a woman in Minneapolis, claiming that the agent acted in self-defense and that the “radical left” was responsible for the tragedy. The mayor of Minneapolis and the governor of Minnesota, using harsh words, accused the federal administration of provoking dangerous situations and demanded the withdrawal of federal services from the city.

“I just watched a video of an event that took place in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It's a terrifying sight. The screaming woman was clearly a professional agitator, and the woman driving the car was behaving very disorderly, resisting and obstructing traffic, and then violently, intentionally, and brutally ran over an ICE officerwho apparently shot her in self-defense,” Trump wrote. He added that it was hard to believe that the officer who was hit was alive.

He also blamed the incident on the “radical left” and their “daily threats, assaults, and attacks on our law enforcement officers and ICE agents.”

We must support and protect our law enforcement officers from this radical leftist movement of violence and hate! – added the president.

He also posted a slow-motion video of the incident, which shows the victim's car driving away and hitting an ICE officer, who moments later fired the fatal shot.

State authorities: “G… truth” and escalation of tension

The head of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Kristi Noem, declared the incident an act of terrorism, while Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey called her description of the event “sh… true” and told ICE to “get out of town.” Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz delivered a similar message, saying his state doesn't need any more help from the federal government.

– We've been warning you for weeks The Trump administration's dangerous actions pose a threat to our public safety and that someone may get hurt – he said at a press conference.

The killing came after DHS launched a major operation against immigrants in the state. Minnesota has recently been at the center of controversy over billions of dollars in state welfare benefits being extorted by representatives of the Somali diaspora.

According to the city police, the incident occurred when a 37-year-old woman blocked the street with her vehicle. When ICE officers approached her, she drove away, hitting one of them, who then fired shots. A moment later, the car hit a snowdrift. According to the police, officers tried to provide the woman with first aid, but she died at the scene.

A 37-year-old woman died in Minneapolis during a deportation operation

In Minneapolis, in the US state of Minnesota, a 37-year-old woman was killed on Wednesday when an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer opened fire during a large-scale deportation operation. The shooting sparked a wave of protests and sharp criticism of the city authorities against the federal administration.

According to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the ICE officer fired shots “out of fear for his own life and the safety of others” when the woman allegedly “used the vehicle as a weapon” and tried to hit the agents.

– The officer fired shots while defending himself, said DHS spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin, quoted by Reuters. In turn, DHS chief Kristi Noem described the woman's actions as an “act of domestic terrorism” and announced further protection of federal agents.

CNN reported that footage from the scene shows agents approaching a car blocking the street. As the vehicle begins to drive away, shots are fired within seconds and then the car hits another vehicle.

– Dude, you committed murder, why? – a witness can be heard screaming in the recording.

Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara announced that a 37-year-old white woman who had no pending immigration proceedings was killed. She was shot in the head and died after being taken to hospital. The case was taken over by the FBI and state investigators.

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey firmly rejected the version of self-defense pushed by federal authorities.

– This is complete nonsense. I saw the video, it was a reckless abuse of power that resulted in the death of a man,” Frey said, calling on ICE units to leave the city.

Similar calls were made by Congresswoman Ilhan Omar and Senator Tina Smith, both of the Democratic Party.
