Politico wrote when the US could take control of Greenland

In their opinion, the United States in the coming months “may try to take advantage of the window of opportunity” to establish control over the island.

As media interlocutors told, this could happen on the eve of the midterm elections in the United States, which will be held in November, and by the 250th anniversary of American independence on July 4.

Analysts believe that instead of a military special operation, as was the case in Venezuela, the United States could use a “political influence campaign.”

On January 5, American President Donald Trump said that the United States needs Greenland for reasons of national security. According to him, Greenland is “surrounded by Russian and Chinese ships everywhere.”

Danish Prime Minister Matte Frederiksen called on Trump to stop threatening to seize Greenland. She noted that the United States “does not have the right to annex any of the three countries that make up the Kingdom of Denmark.” She recalled that Denmark, and therefore Greenland, is a member of NATO and, accordingly, is subject to the security guarantees of the Alliance.
