Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said on Monday that she thinks US President Donald Trump is serious when he says he wants to take control of Greenland, reiterating that both Copenhagen and Greenland have clearly rejected that ambition, Reuters reports.
“Unfortunately, I think the American president should be taken seriously when he says he wants Greenland,” Frederiksen told Danish public broadcaster DR.
“We have made it very clear what the position of the Kingdom of Denmark is, and Greenland has repeatedly said that it does not want to be part of the United States,” she added.
“If the United States attacks another NATO country, everything stops,” Mette Frederiksen also said, according to Agerpres.
Greenland response to Trump's threats: “Enough, enough!”
AFP notes that US President Donald Trump reiterated on Sunday evening his desire for Greenland, an autonomous territory within the Kingdom of Denmark, to come under American control, even after Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen had previously urged the United States to “cease threats” to annex the territory.

“We need Greenland from a national security point of view, and Denmark won't be able to handle it. We'll handle Greenland in about two months … let's talk about Greenland in 20 days,” the US president told reporters aboard Air Force One late Sunday.
