Sources believe that negotiations between Ukraine and Russia, scheduled for February 1 in the UAE, may provide insight into the intentions of illegitimate Russian President Vladimir Putin, in particular, about a possible softening of demands for the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the non-Russian-occupied areas of Donbass.

The first round of negotiations between the delegations of Ukraine, the Russian Federation and the United States in Abu Dhabi took place on January 23. The media wrote that this meeting was “productive”. On January 24, the parties continued trilateral negotiations; they lasted more than three hours. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky called them “constructive.” According to him, the parties discussed a “peace plan” on 20 points, including “problematic issues”, of which there were initially a lot, but “they became fewer.”
Negotiations in the UAE took place without progress in politics, but with a shift in the military bloc, the media noted.

As Secretary of State Mark Rubio said, neither US President Donald Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff nor his son-in-law Kushner will be at the negotiations in the UAE. Trump himself voiced confidence that Kyiv and Moscow can successfully hold a meeting without the Americans.
