Marcel Ciolacu, about Ilie Bolojan: “He confused the position with the need to be the Messiah of Romania”

The former PSD Prime Minister criticized the current Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan several times. The attacks also came in the context in which many voices from the PNL and USR pointed to Marcel Ciolacu as the main culprit for the large budget deficit that Romania currently has.

“The big problem is that, after this exchange of prime ministers, a savior was sought. A guilty party was sought, that is, me. Being me after five PNL prime ministers, after Romania had the largest investments in post-December history, of 120 billion, after, finally, Moldova has a functional highway… A savior was sought who confused the position with the need to be Romania's Messiah”, he said Ciolacu, in a show on Antena 3 CNN from last November.

Ciolacu then accused Ilie Bolojan of blocking “absolutely everything in Romania”.

“As long as you continuously appear on TV and say 'disaster', you announce the disaster, as long as you freeze, you block all investments (…). Romania's most serious problem is not the budget deficit. Romania's most serious problem is the trade deficit. That's why the budget must be returned to the sectors where the most imports are made, for example, food. All programs and all state aid, SMEs, everything is blocked, absolutely everything, at this moment, in Romania”, asserted Marcel Ciolacu.

In his New Year message, Ilie Bolojan referred to 2025 saying it was a “difficult” year

Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan claimed in his New Year's message that he thanks the Romanians for the effort made in 2025, which was “difficult”, because “it was necessary to put the finances in order and correct many shortcomings”.

“Dear Romanians, I wish you good health and a new year full of accomplishments. We are ending a difficult year together, in which it was necessary to put our finances in order and correct many shortcomings”, Prime Minister Bolojan began his message published on Facebook.
