VIDEO Drivers caught driving on Transfăgărășan, on a closed road sector. The Argeș police are checking

The police in Argeş announced that they are checking after several drivers drove their cars onto Transfăgărăşan, on a closed sector of the road, and filmed images were posted online.

In the images posted online, it can be seen how two cars pass the road signs posted at the entrance to Transfăgărăşan, at an altitude of 1,285 meters, the drivers ignoring the sign that reads “road closed”, according to News.ro.

“The police officers notified themselves ex officio, following the appearance of some images in the public space, in which cars can be seen, which do not belong to an authority with powers that allow entry on the road sector closed to public traffic, as a result of the precipitation in the form of snow. In this sense, checks were started to identify the drivers involved and establish the factual situation, and then, depending on their results, legal measures will be ordered impose, according to the provisions of GEO 195/2002R regarding traffic on public roads”, Argeş County Police officials announced on Thursday.

The police remind that failure to comply with the meaning of road signs prohibiting or restricting traffic, as well as trespassing on a public road closed to traffic, constitute contraventions and are sanctioned according to the law.

Also, the Argeş traffic police draw attention to the fact that the use of winter tires is mandatory when driving on public roads covered with snow, ice or sleet, but also that drivers are obliged to comply with the restrictions imposed by the authorities, to adapt their driving behavior to the weather and road conditions and to avoid behaviors that may endanger the life, bodily integrity or property of themselves and other people.
